Let me preface this by saying I’m GLAD turtle necks are a thing again. They’re super versatile and you can easily dress them up or down. With all the upcoming holiday travels, I’ll be sure to pack turtlenecks and ditch the dress shirts and ties!
I have a bit of history with turtlenecks, I had a black one around 4th or 5th grade that I wore at LEAST twice a week!!! Also, if you’re an old head like myself, you’ll remember for cold weather football games, we wore turtle necks(or Long Johns) under our pads to stay warm.(For you youngsters, this was before Under Armour was invented.)
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with anything grey. Forever 21 had a crazy sale a few weeks back, so I statched a couple of these turtle necks since they were only 9 bucks a pop. It’s been a bit cooler in LA lately and plus it’s Monday, so I didn’t feel like being all “put together” today. Enter……. The Turtle Neck! *trumpets blare with a cymbal crescendo at the end*
I’ve had these since ’07 but I’ve had them altered several times. I usually pair them with tshirts and crew neck sweaters because they are not as fitted as my dressier slacks, so to keep the laid back them going, I threw these suckers on. *I acutally have 3 more pair of these that are cut the same exact way, 2 grey and 1 navy. smh*
The blazer is a throwback as well, I got it at the Beverly Center H&M circa 2008’ish. It fits a lot different now than it did then, and as a matter of fact, I JUST got it back from my tailor yesterday, so needless to say I was a bit eager to have it back.
I finished it off with the mustard ’83 Nike Air Pegasus, which adds a bit of a muted pop of color. Maybe it’s more of a “thud” of color instead of a “pop” because they’re not as loud. See what I did there? I play too much. These babies have been sitting in my closet for months but today was their day to meet the world. “The world Craaaaaiiiiig!”
